How much does it cost to live at Cooinda?

As at March 2023 and subject to availability, Cooinda Retirement Village offers 2 Rental Only options for prospective residents:

  • 2 Bedroom Units – total charges for residence (exc extras eg Carport) are $524.45 per fortnight, this is equivalent to 60.4% of the maximum single aged pension payable from the 1 April 2021 ($868.30).

  • 1 Bedroom Units – total charges for residence (exc extras eg Carport) are $434.15 per fortnight, this is equivalent to 50% of the maximum single aged pension payable from the 1 April 2021 ($868.30). 

Prospective residents should be aware that the Board of Cooinda Retirement Village has resolved to increase charges for residents from the 1 January 2024, charges from that date will see 2 Bedroom Units charges rise to 60.4% of the maximum single aged pension payable from the 1 April 2023 and similarly 1 Bedroom Units will rise to 50% of the maximum single aged pension payable from the 1 April 2023 (both charges will incorporate recurrent charges).

Additional utility costs also apply including electricity, telephone and / or internet. 

Can residents do their own gardening?

Yes. Cooinda staff maintain the grounds and gardens, however, residents are very welcome to get involved in gardening activities.

Are pets allowed at Cooinda?

Residents are not permitted to have a pet. The resident four legged friend 'Button' (a cavoodle) is on site throughout the week for residents who enjoy interacting with dogs. 

Are there currently any vacancies?

Is there parking available for residents?

Subject to availability, Cooinda offers under cover car parking and gopher parking (with gopher charging points) for residents. This is a cost in addition to the rental fees outlined above. As at 1 July 2023, carport / gopher parking fees are set at $10 per fortnight (no GST applicable). 

Does Cooinda have on site accommodation available for a resident's family members visiting town?

Cooinda has a Next of Kin unit, which is available to family members of residents, subject to demand. The unit is available for a maximum hire period of one week. To enquire about the unit's availability and cost, please contact our manager, Tracey on the details below. 

Do residents pay an ingoing / entry fee?

No. There is no fee or entry contribution for residents entering Cooinda.

Are there any exit fees for Cooinda residents?

No. There are no exit fees charged by Cooinda.

Is transport available for residents at Cooinda?

Cooinda has a bus stop located on the Lawrence Street side of the village. Inverell Community Support provides a range of transport services to residents, including a Community Access Bus, which is available Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Bookings are essential.
